Thongchai and Kiradech represent Thailand at Golf Sixes on May 6-7.
Thongchai Jaidee and Kiradech Aphibarnrat, who won 11 European tour titles among them, will represent Thailand at the European Tour’s inaugural Golf Sixes tournament at Centurion Club in St Albans on Saturday and Sunday.
The 16-team and one-million euro competition, to be split into four groups of four, will be played in a Greensomes format, where the teams select their best tee shot and then play alternate shot thereafter. Following the group stage on Saturday, the top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stage -the quarter-finals, the semi-finals, a 3rd/4th place playoff match and the final – on Sunday.
Represented by world no. 69 Thongchai and no. 91 Kiradech, Thailand are in group B with Spain, Belgium and Scotland. The Thai duo start their campaign against Spain featuring Pablo Larrazabal and Alejandro. Then, they meet Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts and Thomas Detry and Scotland’s Richie Ramsay and Marc Warren respectively.
In Group A, local hopefuls Andy Sullivan and Chris Wood will play for England, who take on Denmark, the Netherlands and India.
In Group C, Wales are drawn with Australia, USA and Portugal.
In Group D, Alexander Levy, who won in China a few weeks ago, will lead France to South Africa, Sweden and Italy.
