Prayad and Udorn eye more glory

 

Prolific golfers Prayad Marsaeng and Udorn Dungdecha are seeking to add one more title to their trophy cabinet when they tee off at the All Thailand Golf Tour’s Singha Championship in Rayong this week.

 

The 2.2-million-baht event, to be held at par-71 and 6,961-yard Green Valley Country Club on March 23-26, is the second leg of the All Thailand Golf Tour 2017 offering prize money of at least 31 million baht in total.

 

The 19-time winner Prayad, who was crowned the 2016 Player of the Year award, and Udorn, who won the 2016 Order of Merit award, are among tournament contenders due to their impressive records and recent performances. The 51-year-old Prayad, who took two titles last year at Singha Hua Hin and Singha Chiang Open, will be approaching the tournament in more confident mood because he once won the title here in 2009.

 

Prayad, who watched his son playing golf for five holes today, said that he has yet to finished his 18-hole practice. The course was in good condition and the key to be successful here was a tee-shot.

“There are lots of bunkers while the green is quite tough with slopes,” he said.

“It is good to come here again after I won many years ago.”

Seeking for his 20th title on the 19-year-old tour, the veteran said that if his putter is sharp, he stands a good chance to make it.

“I am in form right now. I can hope for the title if my putter works well.”

 

 

Udorn, whose only title last year came in the All Thailand Premier Championship, hopes to keep momentum for another season. He made the cut in all the 10 events last year and got five top-ten finishes.

 

In-form Danthai Boonma cannot be overlooked after his two consecutive wins at the Boonchu Ruangkit Championship and the Singha E-San Open. The 21-year-old from Sukhothai is hoping to become the second player in the tour’s history to land three titles in a row. Prayad achieved that in 2007 when he landed the titles at the B-ing TPC Championship, Singha-Esan Open and Singha Masters.

 

The former national golfer, who practiced only 11 holes before it rained, said that he felt a bit comfortable with the course, which was not too long. He was cautious about his title  chance because he has just changed his driver and 3-iron.

“Only difficulty is on the small green with lots of slopes,” he said.

“If I can beat the greens here, I can hope for my third straight title.”

 

Defending champion Namchok Tantipokhakul,  and former champions - Chapchai Nirat (2014) and Itthipat Buranatanyarat (2015) are bidding for their second win here.  Phachara Kongwatmai, Chinnarat Phadungsil, who was a runner-up at last month’s Singha E-San Open, Thanyakorn Khongpha, and Thaworn Wiratchant are also in the 132-player field. The top-50 and ties will qualify for the weekend.

 

The Singha Championship also features the top 50 from the 2016 Order of Merit, winners of Singha Masters or All Thailand Championship 2014-2017, tour winners 2015 – 2017 and top 30 from Qualifying Round.

 

In the women’s side where a purse of 200,000 is up for grab. It will be played in a 54-hole stroke play format. Leading the challenge are Pinrath Loomboonruang and Juntima Gulyanamitta.

ประหยัด และ อุดร มุ่งมั่นคว้าแชมป์กอล์ฟสิงห์แชมเปี้ยนชิพที่ระยอง 

สองนักกอล์ฟอาชีพที่น่าจับตามองอย่าง ประหยัด มากแสง และ อุดร ดวงเดชา ต่างมุ่งมั่นที่จะคว้าชัยชนะในการแข่งขันออลไทยแลนด์กอล์ฟทัวร์ รายการ สิงห์ แชมเปี้ยนชิพ ในสัปดาห์นี้ที่จังหวัดระยอง 

การแข่งขันที่สนามกอล์ฟระยองกรีนวัลเลย์คันทรีคลับ นับเป็นสนามแข่งที่ 2 ในรายการนี้ของปี โดยมีระยะการแข่งขันทั้งสิ้น  6,961 หลา พาร์ 71 จัดการแข่งขันระหว่างวันที่ 23 -26 มีนาคม 2560 โดยมีเงินรางวัลทั้งสิ้น 2.2 ล้านบาท 

โดย ประหยัด มากแสง เจ้าของตำแหน่งผู้เล่นแห่งปี 2016 และเจ้าของแชมป์ออลไทยแลนด์กอล์ฟทัวร์ 19 รายการ และ อุดร ดวงเดชา เจ้าของตำแหน่งผู้ทำเงินรางวัลสูงสุดปี 2016 ทั้ง 2 ผู้เล่นต่างอยู่ในช่วงที่ทำผลงานได้ดีในปัจจุบัน

ประหยัด มากแสง ที่เดินดูการแข่งขันรอบคัดเลือกของลูกชายเมื่อวันอังคารที่ผ่านมา โดยหลังจากเดินผ่านไป 5 หลุม พบว่าสภาพสนามสมบูรณ์และมองว่าการตีชอตแรกเป็นตัวแปรสำคัญที่จะทำให้ประสบความสำเร็จในการแข่งขัน “สนามนี้รอบกรีนมีบ่อทรายจำนวนมากและกรีนค่อนข้างยาก” ประหยัด กล่าว “ผมดีใจมากที่ได้กลับมาอีกครั้งหลังจากที่เคยชนะรายการนี้เมื่อหลายปีก่อน และหวังว่าจะเป็นชัยชนะครั้งที่ 20  ของผมในครั้งนี้หากสามารถพัตต์ได้ดี ผมมีความพร้อมเต็มที่ที่จะคว้าชัยในครั้งนี้ถ้าผมเล่นได้ดีในการพัตต์” 

ทางด้าน อุดร ดวงเดชา มีความมั่นใจในฟอร์มการเล่นของตัวเองจากปีที่แล้วต่อเนื่องมาถึงปัจจุบันในการลุ้นแชมป์รายการนี้ ซึ่งเมื่อปีที่แล้วได้ผ่านการตัดตัวถึง 10 รายการ และสามารถจบ 1 ใน 10 ได้ถึง 5 รายการ 

ส่วนนักกอล์ฟที่ฟอร์มกำลังร้อนแรงอย่าง แดนไท บุญมา วัย 21 ปีจากสุโขทัย ที่ชนะติดต่อกัน 2 รายการ ในรายการบุญชู เรืองกิจ แชมเปี้ยนชิพ และรายการ สิงห์ อีสาน โอเพ่น คาดหวังที่จะชนะในรายการนี้เพื่อทำสถิติ เป็นผู้เล่นที่ชนะออลไทยแลนด์กอล์ฟทัวร์ติดต่อกัน 3 รายการเป็นคนที่ 2 โดยมี ประหยัด มากแสง เคยทำไว้เมื่อปี 2007 ในรายการ บีอิ้ง ทีพีซี แชมเปี้ยนชิพ, รายการสิงห์ อีสาน โอเพ่น และรายการสิงห์ มาสเตอร์ส 

โดย แดนไท บุญมา ทำการซ้อมได้เพียง 11 หลุมก่อนฝนตกลงมา กล่าวว่า ”ผมรู้สึกมั่นใจกับการตีในสนามนี้เนื่องจากสนามไม่ยาวมาก ตอนนี้ต้องระวังในเรื่องการใช้ไดร์เวอร์และเหล็ก 3 เพราะกรีนเล็กและมีความลาดเอียงค่อนข้างมาก”  “ถ้าผมสามารถทำสกอร์ได้ดีบนกรีน ก็จะมีโอกาสชนะติดต่อกัน 3 รายการได้” 

ส่วนอดีตแชมป์รายการนี้ นำโชค  ตันติโภคากุล(ปี 2016), ชัพชัย  นิราช(ปี 2014). และ อิทธิพัทธ์ บูรณธัญรัตน์ (ปี 2015) กำลังมองหาชัยชนะเพิ่มเติมในอาชีพ รวมถึง พชร คงวัดใหม่ และ ชินรัตน์ ผดุงศิลป์ ซึ่งเป็นรองแชมป์รายการที่แล้ว, ธันยากร ครองผา และ ถาวร วิรัตน์จันทร์ ซึ่งต่างก็ลงแข่งขันรายการนี้ที่มีนักกอล์ฟชายทั้งหมด 132 คน แข่งขันแบบสโตรกเพลย์ 72 หลุม และตัดตัวหลังจบ 36 หลุมที่อันดับ 50 ร่วม โดยแชมป์จะได้รับเงินรางวัล 3 แสนบาท 

ทางด้านประเภทนักกอล์ฟหญิงที่ชิงเงินรางวัลรวม 2 แสนบาท จะแข่งขันแบบสโตรกเพลย์ 54 หลุม ตัดตัวหลังจบ 36 หลุมที่อันดับ 9 ร่วม โดยนักกอล์ฟที่น่าสนใจที่ร่วมแข่งขันรายการนี้ได้แก่ จันทิมา กัลยานมิตตา และ พิณรัตน์  หลุ่มบุญเรือง
