Khon Kaen, March 27 : Young gun Phachara Khongwatmai continued his impressive and remarkable rise in the game of golf by capturing the title at the US$100,000 Singha E-San Open.

The 16-year-old from Hat Yai, who was one shot behind overnight leader Thanyakorn Khrongpha after three rounds, fired a final 68 to win on 13-under-275 at the par-72 Single Park Khon Kaen Golf Club.

The Hat Yai native was two shots better than second placed Chapchai Nirat (68) at the annual event co-sanctioned by both All Thailand Golf Tour and ASEAN PGA Tour.

Panuphol Pittayarat (71) and Thanyakon Khronpha (75) shared third with six shots behind the winner on 7-under-281.

Phachara used to make the headline on the ASEAN PGA Tour in 2013 when he became the youngest winner of a professional golf tournament thanks to his win at Singha Hua Hin Open at the age of 14. Since turning pro, he took his sixth professional title and that included his success on Thai PGA Tour.

His amazing run of results also includes a sixth place finish at the 2015 Thailand Golf Championship in December and that earned him a place at the Open 2016.

Phachara took home US$ 12,761 while Chapchai got US$ 7,869. Panuphol and Thanyakorn each got 4,402.

Pavit Tangkamolprasert closed with a 71 to finish fifth on 4-under-284. Defending champion Thaworn Wiratchant posted a 74 to tie for 13th.

Australian Anthony Murdaca carded a 70 to lead the way for the graduates from the recent OneAsia Qualifying School finishing joint eighth.

The Singha E-San Open is one of three tournaments jointly sanctioned by the ASEAN PGA Tour with the All Thailand Golf Tour. The others are the Singha Hua Hin Open, Singha Pattaya Open and Singha Phuket Open.
